North Table Mountain is located between Golden and Denver in Jefferson County. It is an excellent place for beginning climbers. The approach from parking lot is short and the routs are located just one after the other. The only problem of the park are the rattlesnakes.
Rattlesnakes are active from early spring through mid fall. They hibernate in winter. Rattlesnakes are more active and more aggressive in spring, shortly after emerging from hibernation. Rattlesnake young are born in August through October.
The North Table Mountain has been a local landmark for as long as people have been frequenting the area. Settlers in the 1800s called the North and South Table Mountains the Shining Mountains because of their changing colors. Both mountains were created by ancient lava flows more than 63 million years ago. Today it is a popular place among locals for walking, cycling and even horseback riding, although bicycles are not allowed here. It is more often known to climbers as the Golden Cliffs.
This mountain is a popular destination for Denver climbers and has many short, technical sections. It is surrounded by a short strip of rock, offering the technical climber a wide variety of sports and top rope opportunities. There are several routes that provide good protection for those who want to trade.
For beginners guiding the good spot is Brown Cloud Area and surrounding walls.
The half a day program can be suitable for both beginners and advanced climbers who want to spend time in the mountains during the day.
This half a day climbing option will take you on routes where you can test your strength on the rocks. We can also arrange a training course to improve your technical skills.
During a full day of climbing at one of the many locations, you can climb a variety of single-pitch routes or climb a multi-pitch route on your choice. This can also be a training course if you want to improve your technical skills.
