Alex Gukov

Hello, I’m Alex Gukov, and I am thrilled to share my passion for mountaineering through the establishment of the GAB Trading LLC, doing business as the American Mountain School.

In 2023, my family and I embarked on a new journey in the United States, leading to the creation of this venture, inspired by my extensive experience in the world of climbing and mountain guiding. My journey in mountaineering has been shaped by invaluable experiences gained through training with esteemed institutions worldwide, including:

• Russian Mountain Guide Association
• Kyrgyz Mountain Guide Association
• American Mountain Guide Association
• Association of Canadian Mountain Guides

With over 25 years of dedicated climbing experience, I have had the privilege of exploring some of the world’s most challenging peaks. My commitment to excellence led me to attain certifications such as:

• Certified Alpine Guide at the Russian Mountain Guides Association (RMGA)
• IFMGA Aspirant Mountain Guide at the Kyrgyz Mountain Guide Association (KMGA)/member of the International Mountain Guide Association (IFMGA)
• AMGA SPI ( Single Pitch Instructor )
• CAA Avalanche Operations Level 1 ( equal to AIARE Pro-1 )
• WFR ( Wilderness First Responder )
• AIARE Avalanche Rescue Course
• AIARE-1 Course
• AAI Level-2 Course

My achievements include various accolades such as the Golden Ice Ax of Russia and the victories in the Russian mountaineering championships. Having successfully completed several early ascents of peaks ranging from 20,000 to 23,500 feet (6,000 to 7,150 meters), I also earned an international mountaineering award Piolets de’Or 2015 for one of the best climbs of the year.
